Antique Appraisals

You're invited to our own version of the famous "Antiques Roadshow!"
Bring an item to get it evaluated by professional antique appraiser Mark Moran (former guest expert on 9 seasons of Antique Roadshow) or just come and watch!

There is $20 per item appraisal fee. Pre-registration is required.
Visit the library to reserve your spot!
Your time slot will not be held without payment.
Cash is preferred– a local check with driver’s license is OK.
Come in to the library to register. Our open hours are Mon-Thurs 9am-7pm, Fri 9-5, Sat. 9-1

You will be assigned a 1 hour time slot.
(For example, 10am-11am.)
Please come at the beginning of the hour, and sit comfortably while you wait your turn.
Mr. Moran will handle roughly 1 item every 5 minutes, and you are welcome to watch appraisals, which will be projected on our big screen.

- We need a good phone number for you so we can call in case the event is cancelled.
-The event may be cancelled if we do not have at least 25 people register in advance. Money will be refunded.
- The event may be cancelled due to extreme weather. Money will be refunded.
- Appraisals may not be used for insurance or charitable purposes, which require a certified appraisal.
- If you are not comfortable with having an item appraised publicly, do not bring it.
- This event may be photographed or filmed– by entering a public building/area you consent to this.

Items Encouraged:
Americana (including autographs, sports items, & historical documents), Fine Art, Furniture, Ceramics, Pottery, Glassware, Vintage Photos, Advertising pieces, Folk art (including carvings & quilts), Books, Toys, Metalware, Clocks, Costume jewelry, Musical Instruments.

Not Allowed:
Weapons (knives- unless they're advertising pieces, swords, guns), Traps (leg-hold); Nazi items, Coins and paper money, Fine jewelry, Beanie Babies.

Please Ask in Advance:
Tribal objects (Native American, Africa, Oceanic, etc)
Fossils & Minerals, Automotive Items, Antique Tools & Tech,
Records, Military items, Nautical items

About Our Appraiser: Mark Moran

Mr. Moran was a guest expert on the PBS program “Antiques Roadshow” for 9 seasons.
He is also former senior editor of Antiques and Collectibles Books for Krause Publications in Iola, Wis., and has also been a contributing editor for Antique Trader magazine. He has served as editor of Antique Review East magazine; as producer of Atlantique City, an antique show held in Atlantic City, N.J.; and as editorial director of F+W Media's Antiques Group.
Moran is the author or co-author of more than 25 books on antiques and collectibles,
including three editions of the 800-page annual Warman's Antiques & Collectibles.
Moran bought and sold antiques for more than 30 years, specializing in vintage folk art, Americana, and fine art. He has been active as an appraiser of antiques and fine art for more than 20 years.
