Join us for a special Story Time at the Green Lake County Fair!
This county fair is one of the few free fairs- there is no charge for admission.
On Thursday, August 1st, we will be putting on a free story time, with a fun craft.
Meet us in the kid's tent at 10:30am!
We'll be combining our "Adventure At Your Library" fantasy-themed summer reading program with the fair's "Fiesta" theme.
-
We'll be reading a story or two from books like, "Feathered Serpent and the Five Suns" by Duncan Tonatiuh, "The Dragon Slayer: Folktales from Latin America" by Jaime Hernandez and "Dragons Love Tacos" by Adam Rubin and Daniel Salmieri.
-
For our craft, we'll be making Quetzalcoatls - feathered serpents (or dragons) from Aztec and Mayan folklore. These will be pre-cut from colored cardstock paper. Kids will color them and attach wooden sticks and brass brads so that the serpents can move. Then they can add colorful feathers as a final touch.
-
Finally, we'll break open a dragon-shaped pinata filled with authentic Mexican candy, some American candy, and small dragon toys.
