Green Lake County Reads

Let's read, learn, and grow together!

Each year, the libraries of Green Lake County invite you to come together over books and ideas. Here's how you can join us:

1. Read one or both of the books we've selected. They're about kindness, small-town friendship, and the hope of wishes come true. Multiple copies of these books are available at all Green Lake County libraries. See below for details.

2. Join the conversation online, at the library, and at home. Lots of people will be participating in this extended "book club!"

3. Come to a special, free event at the Caestecker (Green Lake) Library on Saturday, April 15th from 10am-Noon. There will be refreshments and a book giveaway. Krista Sobieski, the founder of Unimaginable Hope, will be speaking about random acts of kindness in life. Her Berlin-based non-profit organization has turned personal tragedy into hope for many. This year's books are:

"The Five Wishes of Mr. Murray McBride" by Joe Siple
"At 100 years old, Murray McBride has outlived everyone he's ever loved. But when he meets Jason Cashman, a 10-year-old boy with a terminal illness, Murray may learn something about finding meaning in life as he helps his young friend fulfill his last wishes."

"A Drop of Hope" by Keith Calabrese
"Jobs are scarce and miracles are in short supply. But something strange is happening in Cliffs Donnelly, Ohio. An old well has suddenly, impossibly, begun to grant wishes. And three sixth graders are the only ones who know why."
